Is this your first STC Summit? Feeling overwhelmed, unsure of what to do, where to go, and how to start?
The New Attendee Experience Committee (new this year!) has planned several structured and unstructured events, plus a few surprises, for first-time Summit attendees!
Dedicated Slack Channel
Join STC’s Slack Workspace, and first-time attendees will have their own channel that will be less noisy than the main Summit channel. Follow #summit-first-time-attendees and #summit for announcements and updates, plus ask questions and post pictures.
New Attendee Orientation
Join your fellow first-time attendees on Sunday, 14 May at 5:00 PM for a quick orientation session followed by a venue tour and dinner on the town. Have to miss the tour? Join us on Monday, 15 May at 8:00 AM for a quick recap of the venue and find your first session. Meet for the tours at the STC registration desk.
A First-Time Attendee webinar was held on 9 May from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET to provide information on First-Time Attendee activities, as well as tips and tricks for conference travel and networking. Missed the webinar? View the recording (passcode ?JX4q+fR) and the slides.
Resume Reviews!
There will be resume review sessions on Wednesday, 17 May from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM and 10:00 to 10:45 AM.
- Summit attendees interested in a short resume review should sign up at the Education Booth beginning Monday morning, 15 May until all sessions are full (across from the Registration Desk).
- This a first-come, first-served opportunity, and space is limited.
- Participants can bring a paper resume or can display an electronic resume provided that the display can be readable (no resume reviews from a phone display, please.)

Conference Buddies
Are you in a unique situation—such as traveling from another country or you work in an underrepresented industry—and want to meet someone who understands? Whatever your reason, having a buddy can be a lifeline in large, unfamiliar groups.
Request an STC Buddy and you’ll be paired with a returning attendee to show you the ropes, answer your questions, eat a meal with, and be a friendly face.
Before the Summit, you’ll be introduced to your Buddy virtually via Slack or email. In Atlanta, you’ll have a chance to formally meet before the conference gets into full swing. Check Slack for more details!
New Attendee KnowledgeXchange
New to the Summit or the Society for Technical Communication? Curious about everything else that STC offers and how you can get involved? On Monday 15 May from 4:30 to 5:15 PM ET, Society leaders, staff, and publication editors will gather for a moderated panel. This is your chance for an intimate conversation and a “behind-the-scenes” look that will help you better understand STC as an organization.
