What’s the Problem?: Writing User-focused Content and Why It Matters

As writers, we can get so caught up in trying to document what a product does that we forget why we’re writing the doc in the first place: to help our customers successfully use our products. Sure, users want to know we added a widget to our web interface, but why did we add it and who is it for? What problem does the widget help them solve?

In this presentation, I’ll talk about the importance of keeping the user in mind when we write technical documentation and acknowledge some of the reasons why that’s difficult to do.
