Owning the documentation set for a product can be intimidating, whether it’s your first time or your twentieth. I’ve been fortunate enough to own several doc sets throughout my 10-year career in technical writing, and each experience has taught me new aspects of the field. Over the course of this talk, I will guide you from the barebones start of a doc set through the moment when you’re ready to pass it on to another writer. Subjects include: interpersonal and cross-team development, organization tools, content strategy, task tracking, and general knowledge management. This process is daunting, but hopefully I can make it seem manageable for any writer out there.
