This event is for anyone currently in a leadership position in an STC chapter or special interest group (SIG), or if you want to be more involved in the leadership of your chapter or SIG. At the Leadership Program, you’ll be able to talk with your counterparts about what they do, meet the award-winning communities’ leadership, and get details about the successes they’ve had. This event does not include any refreshments. There will be a break for lunch on your own.
Immediately following the Opening General Session, there will be a reception in the exhibit hall. The reception will include light snacks and soft drinks, and cash bars will be available to purchase other beverages. This is a fun event where you can talk with exhibitors and catch up with friends. This event is included with your registration fee.
Looking to add value to your Summit experience by making new connections? Then plan on participating in the Summit’s first Speed Networking event on Monday, 22 June in the Expo Hall! The Summit’s brand new, fast-paced networking experience puts you in touch with industry veterans, fellow colleagues, and product experts. During this hour long event, you’ll participate in several rounds of networking at multiple tables with fellow attendees and industry movers and shakers. This fast-paced event will allow you to make initial connections early and leave you with plenty of time to follow up throughout the remainder of the Summit. Space is very limited and reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Please only sign up if you are certain you will be able to participate as this event requires pre-scheduling each attendee’s networking schedule. You must be a full Summit registrant to attend this event.
Want to meet people who focus on accessibility, Agile, technical editing, or other elements of technical communication? Most of the SIGs that represent these areas will have representatives available to tell you about their focus and their SIG. They’ll also be able to introduce you to other people who specialize in their interest. We’ll also be presenting the Community of the Year and Most Improved Community awards here. This event will be in the exhibit hall and include light snacks and soft drinks. There will also be a concession stand selling sandwiches and other items to augment the snacks served. This event is included with your registration fee.
We’re making the awards celebration a party for everyone! This reception will honor all of our award winners, but focus on the new Fellows, Associate Fellows, and a few of the more specific awards. There will be snacks, small plates, and soft drinks. There will be cash bars available for anyone who wants a cocktail or other “hard” drink. Come celebrate the best of our industry and then get together with friends for dinner at one of the great restaurants in Columbus. This event is included with your registration fee.
Keep the festivities going after the Honors Reception with your fellow conference goers! This free event is being held just a block from the Hyatt at Denmark on High in the North Room. We start at 8:00 PM and go until they kick us out. Join us for music, dancing, karaoke, or even quiet conversation with friends, old and new. There may even be a few surprises along the way.
