Summit Overview

May 17-19, Bloomington, MN

The 2024 STC Summit is right around the corner, and the Summit Committee is working hard to put the official program together. But here’s an appetizer for the main course!

After reviewing all 80some submissions, we have topics to interest all levels, from newbies to career changes, and seasoned professionals alike!

  • Generative AI
  • Prompt Engineering
  • Presentation Skills
  • Software tutorials
  • DITA tutorials
  • API Documentation
  • Docs as Code
  • Interviewing SMEs
  • Tips, tricks, and practicing skills to get you hired: resume help, interviewing practice, personal branding, and portfolio creation.
  • Building graphics of all kinds
  • Accessibility
  • Open mic time to ask all of your random questions
  • And many others!

Building on last year’s conference of “doing at the conference,” we have worked to bring you diverse content delivery.

  • Intensives that allow you to deep dive into a topic for 2-, 4-, or 8- hours. All of these are heavy with hands-on building, creating, and practicing the skill in the moment. Our intention is for you to leave Summit with work products that you can show off!
  • Our How Stuff Works series will focus on demos and walkthroughs to show you how software, APIs, prompt engineering, generative AI, document design, and many other topics actually work in tech comm.
  • If you are looking for smaller snippets of content, you’ll have to check out our Lightning Talks where presenters have 5-10min to tell you about a topic of their choice.
  • Need a break from people-ing? Go check out our Poster Session! Poster presenters will be around to answer questions for a couple of hours on one day, but other than that you can pursue several fascinating topics at your leisure.
  • If you are looking to talk shop with other professionals, or you want to hear multiple points of view on a single topic, then our Panel Discussions will be the highlight of your Summit. We are gathering industry experts and getting them to answer YOUR questions! We also encourage you to share your perspective during these interactive sessions.
  • There will be an Exhibitor Hall where you can chat with your favorite vendors, see new tech, make new industry partner contacts, and learn about the many existing services to help you with your tech comm problems.
  • For our job-seekers, we are crafting an exciting program for you that includes all the steps and skills that will make you stand out in the job market! We have 2-part sessions where you will learn a skill in the first and then practice it (with professional review!) in the second session.

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about the fun side of things!

  • Dine-Arounds based on topics and communities
  • Lunches that allow you to make new connections
  • “Happy Hours” in and out of adult beverage establishments

As soon as the program is set, we’ll make it available. We are targeting late March for publication.
